Coverage Manulife 55 Bloor West Toronto

Recently, for about a month and a half, reception in the interior of the Manulife Centre at 55 Bloor West has been very poor. This extends down into the parking garage too. It never used to be that way. At first I thought it might be my new phone, so I checked using my old phone and the same thing. Terrible reception with most parties on the other end of the phone complaining: "you're breaking up". Sometimes it even says NOT registered on network. This also did not happen before. With over 600 residential units, Eataly, Indigo and tons of foot traffic from the Manulife, Holt, Hudson Bay & TTC pathway, I'm certain this affects a great many people. How do we get someone from Rogers to look into this? Maybe Manulife undid some things in their recent upgrading? Would Rogers liase with them? It sure is annoying especially if you live or work there.

I'm an advisor
I haven't personally noticed any changes in the coverage in there and I am usually in that area at least once every few weeks. I have an appointment at Toronto Eye Care coming up. I will pay more attention to my devices when there to see if I notice anything out of the ordinary.

If your SIM is more than a few years old. You might want to replace it to see if that helps. What devices are you using?

I use an S24 and my former S21. Hover around the area on the grocery store floor, just outside the lower coffee place (NOT Pilot upstairs) and maybe a bit toward the grocery store (to be fair, the inner- most part of the building). Also, if you want check out the parking garage, particularly p2 & p3. Let me know, maybe make a call or arrange to receive one. Will you 'advise' Rogers (it says your an advisor whatever that means)? Thanks btw

PS coverage used to be good but I know manulife is in the process of separating their fire alarm systems (to isolate the business tower from the residential one) ... perhaps they've disconnected something inadvertently??

Re: Coverage Manulife 55 Bloor West Toronto

The grocery store downstairs makes sense. If you go in there and to the back of it. Signal has always, at least for me, dropped down to two bars at best. I use an s23 Ultra and a Pixel 9 Pro XL. Are you on the OneUI7/Android 15 update or are you still on Android 14? There have been so many complaints with OneUI7 that were know issues but Samsung still chose to push this mess out to the public.

100% agree with you re: grocery store (that has always been a ptoblem) BUT I'm talking about mid-concourse where I get the most complaints (right where the old liquor store used to be). Also, as I said new problems in the parking garage where, before, there were none.

I am using the new ui7, Droid 15. Knock on wood the biggest complaint re: battery life doesn't seem to affect me.

It's important to note that I can replicate these problems with my old phone (S21) which is still using Android 14 and ui6.

Also, why am I repeatedly getting NOT REGISTERED ON NETWORK messages in these areas. Does Rigers actuality read these and are they passed along for someone (a technician) to actually go check.

Re: Coverage Manulife 55 Bloor West Toronto

Not Restisrered on Network issues are usually related to an old SIM card that is slowly failing. Have you replaced your SIM in the past few years? The s21's modem isn't as capable as the s24's. That could be related to not having a band or two or not being compatible with 5G Advance.

Upon reviewing my account, I did get a new Sim with my s24. The fact that the S21's modem isn't as "capable" AND that these problems occur on BOTH phones suggests the problem isn't my hardware. That said, I've tried my best to alert Rogers via this forum but nobody seems willing to say they do push these concerns higher or that anyone will look into this matter. So, Lord Vader, thanks for your help and I guess I've done all that I can. Like much of Rogers, my impression is that this is something users will just have to accept and live with (similar to the constant xfinity fibre TV nasty habit of dropping audio and the picture hiccuping).

Again, thanks and it surely wouldn't go unnoticed by customers (and those not-so-in-love with Rogers) if somebody from technical network services would confirm that they'll investigate.

Re: Coverage Manulife 55 Bloor West Toronto

Always happy to try and help. Going through things support would suggest first will hopefully help you get this looked into further. As much as the forums are a good way to get some Customer Care help and basic support. For issues like these, it is always best to contact Rogers Mobile Support so they can check the towers remotely and see if there is anything unusual happening.

Construction equipment can interfere with cell signals and even in we cases, they might have had to reduce those tower outputs temporarily while Manulife Centre completes their work.

If the issue us still ongoing in a few weeks. I will be there with 3 device in-hand more than likely. I can always run some tests with my 3 SIM's to help bring it to Rogers Mobile Support's attention with some -db numbers from multiple devices and SIM's.

Thank you LordVader (lol)! Interesting side note, I overheard an older lady yesterday talking to her daughter saying her phone isn't working in my noted "dead-zone" (mid corridor, right where LL Bean is going to open/ former LCBO). She asked the daughter to check if Rogers was experiencing an outage (I'm guessing she maybe was with somebody else). I intervened and I told her what I knew and advised that she move to either end of the building. She said I'm not even on the network, emergency calls only. I said, it'll improve if you move. I went to the store, passed by her again and she gave me the 'thumbs up' sign. I also told her that if she didn't get back on the network automatically (which has happened to me), to reboot her phone. I'm not sure if she had to do that last step but I've had to. Thanks again and let us know what you find.

Gee, I never thought of using my app (Signal Stength) dBm meter. So I did and it drops off to -117 dBM in the described , and then to -124 dBm in front of security by the Shoppers beauty boutique. Now I know that that's deep in the interior of the building BUT my point is - it never used to be like that. I'll be interested in what you find out and pushing this hard data upwards to Rogers Technical. Over to you Darth! 🙂
